Can anyone recommend a homemade glass cleaner that I can make from scratch? I currently use Mr Muscle but I hate the vinegary smell, I know that all glass cleaners probably contain vinegar, but is there something that I can make myself where I can add something to dilute the smell. Thank you!

I found out by accident once, that if you put a couple of drops of Zoflora (You can get it in the 99p shop and loads of supermarkets) in a plant / trigger spray bottle with some warm water, and mist the windows with it and then wipe dry with newspaper they come up a treat and smell great too. Do make sure you don't breathe in the mist as it is a chemical. Failing that just a bucket of warm water, some washing up liquid and newspaper / lint free cloth - that's all our old window cleaner ever used.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

If you actually use normal vinegar and water it down (i'd say 40/50) the smell disappears within 20 mins.0

I don't make my own window cleaner as OH moans at the smell of vinegar. I use the Method stuff, which smells of peppermint. It's a bit expensive but I find it lasts for ages as I just use a bit and rub harder to justify it! You can get it from Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose.0

If you don't like the smell of vinegar plain water on the glass buffed off with a microfiber cloth works well. I'll add this to our glass cleaning thread later.0

I'm a Windowlene person and always have been.My DD says that one of her strongest childhood memories is coming home from school to the smell of windowlene and polish on a Monday afternoon, then going into the kitchen and smelling rock cakes cooking. She always says that windowlene reminds her of me !!! Not perfume or nice scents just windw cleaner
:):)
My late Father always used metholated spirits and scrunched up newspapers to clean the windows,if you can stand the smell for half and hour (it does go off quite quickly) then its a great way to really get the winter grot off of windows.
I too don't like the vinegary smell as I can't abide vinegar at all. but I do use it white vinegar as a conditioner in my washing machine White stuff doesn't seem as pungent as the brown one.0 -
I use diluted washing up liquid and a squeegee.. on the basis if that is what window cleaners use it must be ok!
