Use an Agent to help with BR

is it wise to use a paid agent to advise on everything. im about to pay £350 for help with the forms etc and timing everything right

Comments

  • No need at all. Yiu can find out everything you need here and one of tge charities stepchange, cab etc, timing is important in that the actual bankruptcy is one of the last things you do.

There is no need to pay anyone for that.

Instead get in contact with a great free debt advice charity like Step Change (0800 138 1111) and they'll help you make sure that bankruptcy is right for you and give you advice on how to fill in the forms.

You can also contact the Insolvency Service helpline to get guidance on filling in the forms correctly.

And you can always ask for help here.

Tell the £350 guys to buzz off and put that money towards your bankruptcy fees or meeting your priority debts.

As k.p says get in touch with one of the debt charities, read everything on the insolvency service website, and all the stickies on here. Get a basic bank account sorted with either Barclays or Coop, do not mention the possibility of br. get all your direct debits etc all going through before you petition, the planning is easy if you do the research......

do not pay anyone....its quite straightforward we will help you
  • StepChange are good.

If you are in London, there is a specialist Citizens Advice Bureau at the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand, where everyone in London has to go to go bankrupt. See http://www.rcjadvice.org.uk/bankruptcy-service/

I found all the info I needed on here, including an excellent link on how to fill out the forms. It's all in the sticky at the top of the BR board. The people here are excellent and very well informed.
  • I believe you'd still have to pay to file the bankruptcy on top of the companies fees.
I don't believe it's that hard. there's plenty of help online and all you have to do is turn up at court with your paperwork and the fee and say you want to be made bankrupt.
