Becoming a trainer/speaker

Hi all, I'm a long term MSEr but have reregistered so excuse the 0 post count.
I've just had to give up my job with Citizens Advice due to long term stress aggravating my health. I've been put onto ESA but as it's mental health problems I have I'm no expecting to survive the medical despite my health being quite severe, but that's another story/board
.
Anyhoo, I'm not reconsidering my options job/careerwise. I've 5+ years experience of specialist debt/money advice with the citizens advice (with qualifications to match) as well as long term personal experience. Despite my mental health, I've always been a confident public speaker, so I was looking at the possibility of becoming a freelance trainer in financial literacy/money management life skills/
I know without authority from the FSA I can't give 'advice' on a personal level, but I really like the idea of going to schools, clubs, community groups and organisations teaching people how to manage their money on a mental and physical level.
What I need to know if whether this is actually a viable plan, and what I'd need to do red tape wise to be able to do it? I know a CRB check would be a must, but as I can't apply for one myself I'm not sure how I'd get around this?
Any advice?
Thanks all!

A very worthwhile "socially rewarding" type job to do.
Like any other business, you will need a business plan - how will you get paid etc.
You will need to be strong at networking, I am guessing too to get the speaking opportunities.
I think a lot of speakers get their gigs on the back of successful books or coverage on their chosen topics.
If you think of Martin who runs the site, he's not FCA approved, he's a journalist. He needs no other licensing as far as I am aware. So I would question whether you would need it.
The key to being a speaker, is making the subject engaging and wanting people to actually see you.
Good luck with developing your idea and hopefully getting it up and running.0 -
Thank you very much! I've always been passionate about finance, and I think more than anything I really want to be involved in teaching financial skills to the next generation. Hopefully it will be a viable idea!New start, new AI, new me (hopefully)

I think your biggest problem is going to be financial - will people pay *you* to give these talks?
There are many organisations that will give these sorts of talks free of charge & if I (as someone who works in a school & with a youth organisation) were looking for somebody to come into my organisation to speak I would be looking for a qualified professional if they were expecting payment!
I think your best first step would be to see if you could start working for an organisation like Step Change, CAB or CAP and go from there, you may need to volunteer initially0 -

I wonder whether it might be possible to work in the further education sector delivering this sort of education. I think you would need to build up a qualification to teach there but I think it is much less onerous than obtaining a teaching qualification. You could explore with local colleges whether they are ever looking for freelance/part time lecturers on the subject.0
