Hypnotherapy for depression?

Also I totally agree with NigeWick. I was in a high pressure job where no matter how hard I worked, it was not good enough. I now have a different job-much lower pay (not that the other pay was that great-now on £8 p/h rather than £11 p/h), but I know that if I was still in that job I would not be well, despite the hypnotherapy.I took medications and none of them worked. I also saw a psychotherapist and that didn't help either. The only thing that did it for me was getting out of the job I was in and doing something else. My daughter was going the same way and also gave up a well paid job to do something she actually liked but at minimum wage. We're both happy.
I do recommend reading "The Art of Happiness" written by Howard C. Cutler on the thoughts of the Dalai Lama. It changed the way I see things and really helped me.0 -
Hi,
You might want to consider Mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT), an 8 week programme of 2 hours a week. It's got a strong evidence based, and is NICE guideline recommended for relapsing & recurrent depression. http://www.exeter.ac.uk/mooddisorders/acceptclinic/
There's also a project at the moment for post natal depression, which runs an online MBCT course. These are all offered on the NHS for free, often in partnership with local universities.
The hypnotherapy CDs by Glenn Harrold are very good in my opinion. They're available on amazon, he also has a website0 -
Hi
Racheldevon is offering good advice.
Mindfulness and in particular the 8 week program is something I've done and couldn't recommend more.

Is a site that can give you some more info and help you find someone nearby.
It isn't some sort of fad theory, it comes with the NHS, MIND and all sorts giving it the thumbs up.
Not to say that medication and psychotherapy might not be needed, but finding something that puts you back in control of your life is a great thing.0
