mis-sold loan? ?????

How much was the loan you applied for?
What did you do with the money (assuming it was for more than say £100 to put in to your bank account). Did you just leave it all in your account and it has sat there since then unused?
Did you pay off the loan?
If you had the paperwork for the loan and you did have PPI then you may have been able to reclaim the PPI on the loan. If you don't have the paperwork now there is near no chance that the bank still will have.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
If you went overdrawn by £50, is that the amount you took the loan for? Purely to pay off the overdraft? Or did you get a loan for more to give you some breathing space?
I do think you're flogging a dead horse. You went overdrawn. Everyone gets charged for being overdrawn. That means we all have to pay back the charges, but paying back the overdraft is simply paying back money you spent.
If you only took a loan for the amount you were overdrawn, I think they did you a favour
The loan was for £5000 -

I take your point... I certainly didn't spend it on anything in particular. ...it just got used over the year.... yes it was paid off though0 -
If you'd said the guy sold you a £10'000 loan to clear a £50 overdraft I could say it might be it wasn't helpful, however, it was for £500, you spent the money, the overdraft charges stopped, problem solved.
Being 23 means nothing, there are people that have children and mortgages at 20 never mind 23.....We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
If you spent it why do you think they should refund it to you?
It stopped you from racking up astronomical charges and fixed your immediate problem and you had some money in your pocket that you chose to spend.
I cannot see any grounds at all here.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Just to clarify. ..I said ideally I'd like to be refunded not that I expected to be!0

Was just curious if I had any grounds for maybe not being given the correct advice but it would seem not...0

What would have been the correct advice? to let you run up charges for being OD?Thinking critically since 1996....0

You're complaining now about a £500 loan you took out SIXTEEN years ago?
You need a more fulfilling life.0
