Tier 2 Teachers Pension Been Refused

Options
Hi
I am turning 48 this month. I have recently applied for my teachers pension ill health retirement.
I had my GP complete the medical section and ensured she filled in every last detail and stated that I would not be able to take any paid work in the future.
I have today received a decision from teachers pension stating that I am unable to do any teaching job (Tier 1) but that I can do other work (doesn't say I have been refused tier 2 but this is what it means.)
My medical conditions which are numerous have made my GP advise that I am unable t work again as I have both physical and mental health issues.
I cannot afford to retire unless on Tier 2 so could anyone advise me what to do next as they are wanting me to accept Tier 1
I feel like I should mention something to my union (UCU) but don't know what else to do.
Please can anyone help?

Yes, speak to you union as it is their job to assist here.

Did they give a reason they decide to disregard your GP? I would imagine you need to appeal their decision but the union should be able to give advice on this.
