building credit score after bankruptcy

I was declared bankrupt in 2011 and would like to build my credit score up again so if later in future I need a good credit score for mortgage or something it isn't a prob. Ive heard Martin say over and over the best way to build credit is to get a credit card and pay it in full each month. I would like to do this but dont think I will be approved as I am unemployed due to being single parent to a toddler and I'm also at college.
Is there a card that I would be approved for or is there another way to improve my credit score?
Thanks for any help

  • Aqua and Vanquis seem to be the easiest. Interest rates are horrendous though ;)

  • In your situation a mortgage is a VERY long way off. I would just chill about your credit file for a few years. At the point where you can start serious saving for a deposit, then start rebuilding your credit record.

Not a problem if you don't pay any though....I've had a Vanquis (now gold) for three plus years with a current credit limit of £3000 and the interest rate is irrelevant because they've never had a bean out of me.
