Anybody got any ideas how i can clean my steam iron out? It keeps spitting horrible brown water out and staining everything. Dont know how this has happened as i always empty the water out after each use. Do i need to descale? Ive got some brown vinegar..will that work and how do i use it.

I use the distilled white vinegar for this mucky job. I have used the brown once when I had no white. I half fill iron resevoir with vinegar, then top with water. Let it heat up. Then keep blasting the steam vents and lots of gunge splatters out. Repeat if necessary. I then turn iron off, put on an old plate and the rest of the gunge drips out.
Clean plate of iron, then rinse out resevoir few times to get rid of vinegar pong. HTH.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
