Sick Pay and Bank Holiday Question

Am getting myself in a bit of a muddle am hoping someone can help

I had appendicitis just before xmas (17th Dec) and was signed off until the 9th Jan and returned to work on the 10th Jan

I work part time 16hrs per week (Varied hours)

I get statutory holiday (5.6 weeks) 4 weeks normal holiday then every week there is a bank holiday I work 3.2hrs less. (I do not work on bank holidays)

In my sickness period I would have worked 9.6hrs less because of the 3 bank holidays.

My question is do I get paid sick pay for my normal hrs minus 9.6hrs bank holiday OR do I get paid sick pay for the full time and take the 9.6hrs as holiday at an alternative time (Which I believe is what would happen with normal holiday)

Sorry if its not clear…. I am confusing my self lol
Recently married and loving it x

    Hi there,

You need to speak to your employer if you would like to cancel the holidays due to your sickness to take at a time when you are well enough. It will be worth asking for a copy of the company policy in regard to this also.

Otherwise, your employer may assume that you wished to keep the hols and therefore would pay you sick pay but then holiday pay for the bank hols.

Ask now, it is easy to sort out if you have only just come back from sick
