Coop bank account showing on my Equifax credit report

I have a 'basic' bank accounts with both Barclays and the Coop. Originally used Coop, but switched to Barclays once I was discharged as Barclays real time info was better. Anyway, from what I can see, my barcalys account doesn't show up on any of my credit files, but looking back at my last Equifax report in Aug 2013, I see the Coop one does and it has lots of green boxes.

So if its on the credit report, does that mean that the Coop account is adding positively to my credit score? If thats the case, it sounds like I'd be better off moving my salary back to the Coop account rather than Barclays?

Well it was my understanding that basic accounts didn't help towards your credit file, but if some do and the Coop is one of those then I'm inclined to switch back to them, especially as I hear they now off real-time balances, which wasn't the case a few years back.

Sorry, my errror, Barclays is on my Equifax report too, but neither account is on my Experian one. In fact, none of my current creditors (Vanquis card, Aqua card and EE contract are showing up on the Experian one. I guess they all must use Equifax or CallCredit.

I think we should have some of those accounts so if you'd like to send us details well happily investigate for you.

Id take James help to look into this as all those accounts you mention show on my experian file, suspect there is a error causing them not to show.

Well that's odd. I just logged in and since yesterday my credit score has jumped from 796 (fair) to 950 (Good) and it notes there have been 5 changes to my account since last time I logged in (which was yesterday) and best of all now Vanquis, Aqua and EE and both my bank accounts have shown up. :T

I know credit score is pretty worthless in real terms due to the BR, but good to see that it is improving regardless and will be beneficial once the BR falls off.

I have a basic co- op account and it's on my experian and call credit reports.

But do they help with our credit scores? I thought I read that because Basic bank accounts don't have any credit facilities, it doesn't help build your credit. Is that true?

I can also confirm my coop basic cashminder is on my call credit file.

its interesting whether it improves the credit score or not. I don't think the file shows whether it had an overdraft or not so the fact it's there's and is showing as up go date and lots of nice green status should be good for your credit score. would be interested to hear others' opinions.
