TV knocked on floor, now won't work

We have Samsung 22inch lcd in the bedroom and hubby got out of bed this morning and accidentally knocked the set off the corner unit, it fell on the floor.
Now there's no picture, just 2 large white stripes down the left hand side of the screen. The red light flashes when you press something on the remote control but nothing happens at all. The menu doesn't come up or anything. There's no visible damage to the tv.
Is it any good now or not? To say I'm fuming is an understatement.

I think what you have here is a dead TV.
It has ceased to be, it rests in peace, its kicked the bucket, shuffled off its mortal coil and joined the choir eternal. Its an Ex TV.
You could take the back off an see if anything obvious has come adrift. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Home insurance?0

You could take it to a repair shop to see, but it doesn't sound good.
Why are you fuming? Accidents happen. Sounds to me like the TV wasn't in a good position, and next time perhaps would be better on a bracket on the wall.0 -
Sounds like hubby needs to go to the bedroom cooler for a few weeks, that might make him be more careful next time0

How times change. When I were a lad TVs needed a worryingly solid thump to get them to start working.0

Keep the tv and get rid of your husband

Just one thought, not sure if it is the same today, but a few years ago one of the kids knocked a drink over on the tv and the video. We did not have accidental damage but the contents insurance covered them for accidental damage anyway, so it might be included - have another look.
BUT - is it worth making a claim and losing any no claims for the sake of a 22 inch TV?What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
