I hope you weren't. There are more than enough doom mongers on here.
But apocalyse now being pushed to one side, then cycles are a natural event in almost any sphere - including financial. Just look at, say, FTSE index, and you'll get cycles every 1 minute, every 10 minutes, every hour, every day, every week, every month...... every 5 years.....
This occurs independent from any longer term trend. So even if we trend from richest country in the world, down to where we are now, down to 'a bit poor'... and eventually down to 'third world', then that trend will not occur without substantial cycles up and down along the way.
I strongly suggest that today's school leavers will experience the most affluent times 'since records began' at some stage. I just cannot predict when. Nor can I predict whether or not they will capitalise on it, or miss the boat to some other generation.0
