If you find yourself in Broadmead during the day, there is usually a van selling the local paper and 'Goody Bags'. The Goody Bag is £1, going up to £1.20 next month apparently, and you get both the Evening Post and the Daily Press. PLUS you get a load of samples and freebies. Today I got a 500 ml fizzy drink, two fruity bars, a packet of cheesy snacks, a small bar of soap, two sachets of firming cream, several sachets of shampoo and conditioner, and a sample each of washing powder and fabric conditioner. You can usually see what's in the bag - sometimes it's better value than others, and sometimes there's stuff you might not want at all - and it gives you a chance to try stuff you wouldn't normally buy. I've had some very nice chicken stock, and spicy flavouring things, and stuff like that. It can also be a good cheap way of keeping hungry and thirsty children quiet, as long as if there's more than one they don't mind sharing the drinks and nibbles!
