I make mine in a similar way to the recipe posted above and my flatmates love it

I fry diced chicken breast and onion in oil, then add tikka powder (you can get it from tesco) and cook for a few minutes before adding a small tub of greek yoghurt, juice of half a lemon or lime, and diced pepper and courgette to bulk it out and make it more healthy

add some cream towards the end, then some ground cumin/chilli powder/pepper for extra kick if needed and serve with rice

my little one want a chicken tikka for their but i have no idea how to make it or what to use. anyone got a recipe?? Plus which ingredients as i have a large amount of spices. 3 yr old is allergic to coconut though.
  • Not sure this is the right place to ask, unless you're growing the ingredients before they get home?

Chicken Tikka is the dry version, chicken marinaded for a fair while and cooked in the oven. He/she probably means Chicken Tikka Massala, which is the said meat in a creamy tomato sauce - don't think it generally has coconut or coconut milk, probably yoghurt or cream and ground almonds.

A google search should bring up a decent recipe, and if marinading the meat seems like too much hassle, just add chopped up cooked plain chicken to the sauce - an unforgivable short cut that several Indian restaurants seem to think is OK!

  • You're on the "Greenfingered" board. Gardening and stuff rather than making curry!
