SF demand for grant 'overpayment'
Comments

Should be a straightforward one to sort out, and that'll cancel out the overpayment. If you have any further issues, post back up.0

Have today received the demand letter with payment slip!
As this is a Glasgow address, how well will the "Student Loans Company" keep in touch with Student Finance in Darlington?
TIA

......Student Loans were working today (Sat) and surprisingly had a note of my contact with SF yesterday!!
I have to check in with them in a month to keep the account demand on hold (if matters are not settled before then!)

Student Loans are quite nice to deal with (as opposed to Student Finance) As long as you keep them in the picture in a months time (even if you haven't heard anything from SF) The one thing I would say is that although everything should go on file on the computer and both agencies have access to it, you may be informed by SF that it is all resolved but Student Loans don't get to know it (that is what happened with us) Just keep them in the picture.0

Thanks, Devildog. Out of interest, how long did it take to sort your problem out, please?....and how did SL finally get updated?

It took 3 1/2 months for ours to be sorted. So student loans got two calls from me, at end of month 1 informing them of appeal and at end of month 2 saying I still hadn't heard anything. SF were then emailed by me to see what was happening (no response from them) 2 weeks later I contacted them again, they did respond this time, looked into it and I was informed we had won the appeal and a letter confirming this would be sent (but it was never received) I thought that was the end of it until I then received a letter from Student Loans a few weeks later asking for immediate payment. I called them and once they looked on their system they found a note saying no money owed although they claim that they were never given any official notification from Student Finance!!
I would suggest that you go via the appeals process because you then have a named person to communicate with and who can chase things that end and once you have been informed of the outcome get in touch with Student Loans to ensure there records accurately reflect this. Appeals can be emailed and obviously this beats anything getting 'lost' in the post.
Good luck!!0 -

Thanks for all that, if things are not resolved in a month I will ask about the formal appeals process!
Having only just sent the P60s on Saturday, today (Monday) a post from SF has crossed over with forms asking for all our financial info again............!

Just had a letter from Student Loans asking for a £301 over payment....better than nearly £3k!!
This is on our income of £26, 304. Is there any way of easily checking this, please?
Apologies if there is lots of info on SF and SL loan pages but I am currently not well enough to spend too much time searching.
She received an additional £300 payment for finishing here specific design course.
TIA

Working back, I am assuming her first year at Uni was 2010/2011, if this is the case then you can find out how they work your entitlement out from here (around page 11/12)http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@educ/documents/digitalasset/dg_187274.pdf0
