sorry to ask another question but on the magazine comps i have started using the green tick but there is no where for it to show so i end up having to click of each comp to see if i have entered or not am i doing it wrong

On those most use the "thanks" button as the green tick is only present on lead posts.
Hence the quite high thanks count on posts in such as this.

Prior to MSE putting the green tick on here most used the thanks button as the main method of tracking comps.

unfortunately on the long threads for the magazine

the green tick will only show on the first page op to show you you've entered the thread when you refresh on main comps board,
at present the only way to show you've entered each comp on the threads is by ticking the green tick button on each separate post that the lovely posters buy/do the puzzles for us & post on the threads to help you keep track of the ones you've entered so when you get notification of a new comp posted on the thread (if you've subscribed to the thread) you'll be able to see where you left off on the last one you entered,
if you're not subscribed to the thread the green tick helps peeps still see which last comp they entered on the thread when/if they go back to it,

because they are all posted on one long thread the green ticks won't show on each individual post until you visit the threads again,
(it has been asked before on site feedback if it would be possible for a different way to show each comp on the long threads but nothing came of it)

the high thanks counts on the individual posts are in my humble opinion because the posters of each magazine purchase the magazines & spend a few hours each time solving the puzzles for us & typing out for us to enter them,
especially on the two puzzler.com & Tab ones
