Claiming Jobseekers after leaving employment

I hope someone can offer some advice here. My daughter recentlyquit her job after being offered a job to start at another company. on the 6th January. However, on the 3rd January the bosscalled her to say the start date was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Shestill has not been given a new start date and is now getting quite disheartenedby the events. My concern is that this job will not now come to fruition as the boss is being a bit evasive although hasn't said there is no longer a job for her.
My question is does she have any entitlement to benefits?Yes she voluntarily left employment but only because she was due to start a newjob. She doesn’t have anything in writing though.
Any and all advice appreciated.
Many thanks

Is she actively jobseeking?0

Well, she has been waiting for this job to start but still looking around at the same time.0

She left a job with nothing in writing for the new one?
It may well be a harsh lesson learnt I'm afraid.0 -
Yep, i'm afraid so, keen to get out of a particular job and I think the excitement of the new job just took over.
So you think she has no recourse to anything at all>0 -
My young daughter (19/20 at the time) did that a few years.
She signed on explained what had happened with the company details and phone number.
She did the first 2 sign ons with no money, then received a letter saying they had contacted the company who had confirmed that there was no longer a job available as the person who had resigned, changed their mind. They backdated her money and she found a new job shortly after.
Don't know if they still check these days, DD is 24 next month so things may have changed.0 -
I agree with explaining it, I doubt they would do checks. I quit a job on the promise of another, 2 week gap due to security clearance. They took no measures to confirm my story.0
