Options
Hi folks...
Anyone got a tip to cleaning my cooker hood filters please? You know the removable metal/plastic grill type bits that cover up the actualy filter sheet? They are embarrasingly manky.:o

Dishwasher , thats what I do, failing that a squirt of sugar soap if you have it! hot soapy water and a brush, it's irritating the way the bristles catch in the mesh though. Then a hot rinse.

I usually soak mine in biological soap powder and very hot water, rinse, drip dry, and come up well with a bit of a rub with a cloth or a sponge once the water is cool enough

My OH is a maintenance man in a nursing home and he has to do this every couple of months in the kitchens.

He leaves them to soak for a hour in hot water and washing up liquid. Then they just need a quick wash with a sponge.

I work there as well, so can vouch for it working. Then do come up as fresh as a daisy.

Well, I scrubbed them and shoved them in the dishwasher....still greasy....better, but not properly clean. But I left them in soak in the sink over night so will see how they are later this morning.

What about making a paste with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar and leaving on for 30 mins to an hour, and then washing off in hot soapy water to remove stubborn grease?
