Low paid volunteer work

Hello,
I currently work part time and run a very small business on the side and my partner is looking for a job. I was curious if anyone knows of any low paid volunteer work? I know that sounds like a contradiction but I just wondered if there is such a thing? Maybe volunteer work where your mileage is covered or something similar. Obviously I don't expect an actual wage I just wondered if there is anything very low paid that will also help people?
Thanks in advance!

The majority of volunteer jobs will pay your expenses, not for a profit but just to cover them. I am a volunteer with 2 different organisations, both pay petrol (though I only claim with one as I know it has plenty of money, the other charity is only small and I wouldn't claim petrol or anything with them)
Many will also pay for other things, such as training or offer free training so can often be a good thing to add to a cv or a step to paid work.0 -
Wifey works for the CAB, and they pay her train fare (£4.50 return).
They do actually have some paid advisors, who are specialists in particular fields, but the rate isn't the "market rate" for that type of work.0 -
I use to get expenses, travel costs i.e. bus fare or petrol cost per mile. And we also got lunch expenses if we worked more than 4 hours, which I rarely did. I worked for a Mental Health Charity.0
