Where to enter taxed income from election duty on SA

Just wonder if anyone can advise me on this please. My husband did two stints of election duty in the last tax year. For both of these days he received a P528 showing the income received and the tax paid - the whole amount has been taxed at 20% like a second employment income would be. When I telephoned HMRC about this the chap I spoke to said to enter it as self-employment income that has already been taxed on my husband's self-assessment form but, try as I might, I can't find where that is? I have to say the HMRC fella didn't sound too sure about it either when he was advising me!

Does anyone have any advice on this before I telephone HMRC tomorrow and sit in a long queue again please?

Is it seen as self-employed income or as employment income - even if it is only for a day's work at a time?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

'Other Uk Income' is where I would enter that one-off source of income.

Thanks but it's already been taxed though, won't that mean it'll be taxed again?

    No

They will take account of the tax you have already paid. I'm sure there's a box on the form for that to be entered

Oh that is massively helpful, thank you very much. I'd missed that bit when tailoring the online return so had to go back and put it in - I'll know what to do another time.

Thanks again from saving me from the horrors of another HMRC phone queue, I really appreciate it. :)

For any HMRC form with a P followed by a number the P stands for Pay As You Earn and the form is employment related.
Strictly speaking the work your husband did was an employment and should be declared as such on an employment page.

However if you have already submitted his SA Return I wouldn’t really worry about it.
