Why are these jobs still advertised?

http://www.reed.co.uk/jobs/immediate-start-sales-customer-service/24177153#/jobs/nottingham?keywords=immediate%20start

I applied for a similar role about 10 years ago and I left after one day! We were just going to offices selling cheap n nasty crap like desktop disco balls, mobile phone deckchairs etc.

We only got about a half a dozen sales from each item and many employers hated us.

Has anyone actually progressed well in these - not the MDs!

I think it should be illegal to place ads for self employed jobs such as that.

To me, if I want to be self employed I come up with my own product to sell, I choose if I want to have the following...

    - Great communication skills
    - Passion for sales
    - Good people skills
    - Ability to work in a team sales environment
    - Self motivation
    - High standards for Customer Service

I do not "apply" to someone else to be self employed.

This job is clearly only self employed to save the employer money, no other reason.
  • haha oh well least they tell you before you get into the interview room I suppose...

Finally 1 of the companies I blindly walked into as self employed over the last couple of months is made to put this on their job advertisements:
The company has given assurance that this vacancy enables workers to achieve a wage equivalent to the National Minimum Wage rate. Self-employed people are responsible for paying their own National Insurance Contributions and Tax. For information on how benefits are affected and whether entitlement may be lost, speak to a jobcentre plus advisor

OP, if you're looking for a job in Nottingham (slightly higher than NMW) you can send me a PM as I do know of a company recruiting for a very quick start and I can give you the specifics :)
