New kitchen

Am in desperate need of a new kitchen! Mine at nearly 20 years old , has just about come to the end of its useful life!

It's an average sized kitchen , although somewhat awkward in that it has 3 doorways. I'm seriously considering blocking off one of the doors. Large chain or local bespoke? I'll consider either. I'll need a new gas job & fridge freezer . I can get my own joiner so it's only the cabinets units work tops etc.

Can anyone who's had any recent experience help me out.

Oh and costs , I've not a clue I'd been thinking about 5kish!

Thanks in advance

Classic kitchens in Aghalee were super to us, and the standard of fitting was superb.
  • My mum just had a kitchen in at her end terrace in Ballymena. Cost around £3k and she just had new kitchen/work tops. She used a small local company who were much cheaper than the large chain stores.

    HTH!
  • I'm in the process of putting in a new kitchen. I priced with Ikea and then with a local fella. However I ended up going with B&Q.

I bought the kitchen in B&Q just after Christmas and got 25% off. I also bought an oven and hob, integrated 70/30 fridge freezer and dish washer in the sales in Argos/Currys - saved a fortune on the prices Ikea in particular were charging.

I have a fitter I know coming to fit it. I'm going to build all the units myself (just started last night) and remove the old kitchen.

Ikea was £3300 for applicances and units - £1700 to fit it - that didn't include a dishwasher, tiles, any plumbing/tiling work.

The local fella was approx £4700 for the same thing (with a dishwasher, tiles and plumbing/tiling).

B&Q has worked out at under £1800 for the units, tiles, cooker hood, etc... They wanted £1200 to fit it with me taking the old kitchen out but I said no. I paid £690 for oven/hob, integrated dishwasher and integrated fridge freezer. The person who's fitting it said it will cost no more than £500 and he's doing some plumbing, the fitting and the tiling. I'm building the units and removing the old kitchen.

So I reckon everything in for approx £3k

If anyone is getting a new kitchen which is just not to their taste anymore and still in half decent condition there's a place in Lisburn that will come out and remove your kitchen units for you. It's a Habitat for Humanity restore shop in Lisburn, so all charity and all volunteers. They then clean everything and offer kitchens at a reasonable price. https://www.facebook.com/HabitatReStoreNI
  • They also sell desks., filing cabinets. carpets, furniture, doors , tiles,
    bits for bathrooms, worktops.

As previous poster said all volunteers - all very helpful and all very cheerful. I kitted out my garage there last year for avery reasonable cost.

Worthwhile a visit - you won't be disappointed.

Also have a small cafe and toilet.

Riverside retail park Lisburn - plenty of parking.

    Happy user no affiliation.

If you have any sort of woodworking inclination or know of anyone who does you can build your own kitchen with just the cost of the wood etc
