Amazingly cheap perscription glasses delivered only £10.40 !!

Options
I saw this on hotdeals and have just ordered some. It is a real bargain. Goggles4u is the website and you need to use quidco to get the bargain.

You can have prescription glasses online for Just £13 (includes delivery).

You need to get 10% on quidco as well to get this amazing bargain. As you pay in US $ and the 10% is in GBP it makes it even cheaper. So on $25.99 glasses you will get £2.6 quidco (your cost roughly £10.40).

I got the pair I'm wearing right now from them a month or 2 ago, superb value.

They come all the way from Pakistan in an odd hand sew pouch.

Bought a pair from them a year or so ago and though reasonable quality, the anti-reflection coating was no-where near as good as other glasses I have owned. There was a pinkish/purpleish reflection if I remeber correctly.
I have them in a draw for an emergency, but couldn't get used to the
    reflections for daily use.

They may have improved now, but thought I would add a word of
caution for anyone that uses anti-reflection coatings.

I recommend goggles4u - have used them many times and they've always been spot-on with my prescription. One pair of glasses had a loose arm but s spot of superglue did the trick ( although I did manage to stick my finger to the arm but that's another story ).

I don't know what quidco is but I use a 5% discount code ( code on discount codes 'n vouchers) which brings the cost down to under £12.40 and repeat orders get 15% discount if you email them your previous order number. Their range is exceptional with around 2000 frames ( not like the handful of bargain frames that you see on other websites ).

has anyone had a pair of these specs checked out at an opticians to see if the lenses actually meet the prescription spec.

Also was wondering what one does if the frames need bending/adjusting - is it a case of just blagging it at the opticians

I recently bought some online - I had uV400 coating added (though not exactly needed at this moment in time- and did actually take them to the husband of an ex-colleague who is, as it happens, an optician. I was worried about the prescription being correct and the whether the UV400 coating had been applied and worked.

I was told that the prescription in my lenses matched what I had asked for and the UV400 blocker was working as it should. So I was happy enough.

Like you say, though, what about adjustments for fitting? I was okay as my optician friend did mine for me. I guess you just have to be cheeky and ask - I think think the independent opticians are more likely to help in this department that the 'big chains'/franchises.

On the other hand, you buy your glasses on the internet knowing that they may need adjustment anyway - so you can't really moan about it, I guess? It's a trade-off between personal attention and cost savings, presumably.

Interestingly, I was also told that the glazing of the actual lenses was as good as you would get at any opticians shop (I'm sure he meant HIS shop!!)

So - in my case, at least, my worries were unfounded and I was very happy. Especially as my saving paid for my flight to Nice!

Many thanks, have placed the order. Their website is very easy to use and the selection they have is far superior to glasses direct. I used glasses direct earlier this year and although they were very good re. delivery etc. the glasses soon let me down with the 'paint' rubbing off and the screws coming loose. (Yes I know I get what I pay for :o)

    Hi,

Many thanks, Mandles, for your helpful post. I have glasses that are a really old prescription - I can get by with them but really need to get a pair with my latest prescription, so think I'll give this a try.

    Regards,
