Debt chasing in UK from Ireland

Would anyone know whether mortgage debt in the Republic of Ireland can be chased/followed up in the UK. I'm a British national with a property in Dublin in extreme negative equity and I'm back living and working in the UK with a property and mortgage. I am considering walking away from the Irish property but need to know if that can have dire repercussions over here.
