Hello lovelies, just a quick question im hoping somebody can answer for me
We have booked our venue for 14/02/15, and we need to go to give notice, my OH has the day off on Valentines day this year, so 14/02/14, and i know the notice lasts for 12 calender months, but would we be able to gove notice then or would the 12 months then be up on 13/02/15?
Many thanks

I think you would have to double check with your registra to be honest.
I should think it would be fine though?0 -
From what I remember from going to see the registrar last week, I think the notice starts from the date you give notice, so I think it would finish on the 13/02/15 in your case. But I would call the registrar first and check.
Also something of a cautionary tale from me - if you're not getting married in the district where you live I'd recommend calling the registrar where you're getting married and booking your time with them if you haven't already. We gave notice in London but are getting married up north, and my OH had a call from the council where we're getting married saying we'd nearly missed a slot for our date! We do have one now but I'd also check with the council where your venue is before you make the appointment to give notice."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
I have spoken to the venue where we will be getting married and they have confirmed the date, once we have settled on a time we are going to pay the booking fee to concrete everything.
This will probably be tomorrow or friday, i have said to them we will have to give notice in our district as we are not local, but when i phone to make payment i may be able to ask if giving notice valentines day this year will be a day too early!0 -
Have to say I love the choice of date as it's my wedding anniversary.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
