Gaming Amazon sellers' pricing

Anyone done this?
For example, I have tried selling some old crap on Amazon, best used seller price £13. I put it on at £5, and lo and a behold the seller cuts their price to £4.99.
But what if I actually wanted to buy that item, having no interest in selling it (not even owning it)?
Could you list it at £5, wait for a seller to cut to £4.99, then buy it at £4.99?
Probably wouldn't work very well for popular items, as someone would buy it from you first. But for more obscure things, the sales volume is I think very low so the risk isn't too high.
