Well I am back, I had a very short diary last year which claimed I would be debt free by Christmas ’13, well that did not happen!!!
So here I am again…
My debt currently stands at £5553.92.

In Mar 2011 my debt stood at £22705.29 so I have managed to pay off quite a bit.

But… I am sooo sick of being in debt, I really want to get debt free, so I can build a more secure future for my family!!

I have a little girl who is 3 and a little boy who is 16 months and a DH.

Currently my plan is to be debt free by the end of Aug, although I would really like this to happen quicker.
It is my birthday in July, so wouldn’t it be lovely if I was debt free by then?? Yip that is my aim :D

How am I goin to go about it, well from Feb on I would like to pay £750 per month towards my debt.
I do believe this is doable, although it will not be easy, I really need to tighten the belt.
Every payday I will pay £500 off straight away and then work at cutting back and getting the other £250.

My first target is my V credit card which currently stands at £340. I want to get this paid off as soon as possible.
( Wouldn’t it be lovely if it was paid off by end of Jan… ok very optimistic but it is worth a try :rotfl:)

So wish me good luck on my journey (oh and a lottery win would be great ;))

  • Well my car needed fixed and it looks like it is goin to cost £230. Just what I need in January. Oh well, I will not let it beat me, I will still keep plodding on.:o
I think I am still spending money on stuff I don’t need to, so I really need to keep an eye on all my spends.
No overpayments yet, but I am hoping to still have some money at the end of the month to make some overpayments then.

Mmmm, well if I made the overpayments now then I would just have to make sure that the money I have lasts me til the end of the month, will have to give that some thought…. I am always afraid of paying too much and then needing the money later… decisions decisions.:(

    Have a nice day :)

  • Just want to say a MASSIVE well done to you for paying off so much of your debt already since 2011. Don't beat yourself up for not meeting your target of Xmas 2013, instead just look how far you have come! That's an amazing amount of money you've managed to pay off in a relatively short amount of time. It's inspiring!

I'm subscribing so I can keep up with how you're doing. I've no doubt you'll meet your goal this time.. fingers crossed you'll manage it for your birthday! x
  • Thank you soo much everyone for your lovely comments
Well it is payday today, yippee :j
So today I have paid £777 off the debt. The £500 that I said I would pay off out of my monthly wage, £200 that my OH gave me today for the week (but I will not need) and £77 that would be my rates for the month of Feb but I do not have to pay in Feb and March J.
In doing so I have managed to clear one of my credit cards J and got my debt total to below the £5000 mark.
    Getting there slowly but surely.
Now I have to make sure I budget my money well for the month of Feb and hopefully pay off some more ;)

Oooh and its Friday (and I am out tonight… on a budget of course).:p

    Have a good weekend all.:T

  • Well done! :j with payments like that you'll be there in no time! Must be such a good feeling to have cleared one of the cards.. make sure you close the account so it's gone for good! ;)
  • Well it is the day before payday and I still had 180 pounds in the bank, so I just payed that off the credit card :j.
So this month I have managed to overpay by £957, well I am very pleased with that :T
(I cant think too much about what I could have done with that money if it didn’t have to be paid off debts!!!)

I was quite good in Feb although I did allow myself a few treats. I hope to continue to be good in March.
So my total debt currently stands at £4489.

Tomorrow is pay day so I will pay another whack off tomorrow.
    Getting there…….

Have a nice day all.

  • An overpayment of £957 is amazing!!! How did you manage that?!

With overpayments like that you'll be debt-free in no time. Then you will be able to use that money for whatever you like - just think about that instead! :) xx
  • Thanks Financially U, I managed it with a bit of hard work and cutting back, but it has surprised me as well how much you can save when you put your mind to it. Feb ran smoothly, so hoping for a few months like that :o

Well today is payday:j , so in one hand and out the other:mad:

I have paid £777 off the CC today.:j
Again this is the £500 that I have pledged to pay off every month from my wage, £200 that other half gave me for the week but I will use my pay instead, and also £77 for the rates that don’t have to be paid this month.

So my total debt now stands at £3712. Getting there!! :D

Plan for March is to spend as little as possible and pay off some more by the end of the month, fingers crossed.

    Happy Friday all
