NHS contract advice

Hi. Not sure if this is the correct board for this query so apologies if not. I'm currently employed by the NHS at a certain band on a spine point about half way up the band. My employer now wants to renew my three year contact (only 4 months in to it) and lower my salary to the bottom of that spine point. Can they change the terms of my contract without my agreement? And if I refuse to agree to the change of salary can they make me quit/fire me?

Did you start half way up the band or at the bottom?

My understanding is they have to take all previous years service into consideration so if that put you half way up the spine then you would stay there. I would speak to HR as they will have policies on this and ask for the rules on agenda for change.

If you've only worked for the NHS for four months then you have no employment rights and can be dismissed for any or no reason (barring discrimination).

Sadly this is happening throughout the NHS. I know of several people, my son is one, whose job has been downgraded recently.
