Why do you wish to leave your current role?

Hello

I am unhappy at work due to bad management and am wanting to apply for work in a similar / same field but am unsure how to manage the "Why do you wish to leave your current role question". Any ideas?

Thanks

something like "I Believed i have achieved everything i can at my current role and looking for new challenges"

you don't really want to bad mouth your previous/current employer as it doesn't usually look good, so just try to put a positive spin on it
  • One way of answering this is to point out all the good things about the job and the company you've just applied for.

The thing is, you can be happy in ignorance or hate your current job, but one day, you see an advert, and you realise you've been treading water, or the something you see excites you, so you think "Why not".

It's not 1963, when people stayed at one company for 30 years.

Say "I take my future very seriously, so I'm always very aware of other roles out there, because the opportunity to progess is limited in current job, and this seems like I've applied for something where I can move forward with my career, blah blah...all the reasons why they should employ you and all the research you've done etc.

I normally put somewhere along the lines of I am looking for a new challenge using the skills I have learnt in previous roles

What about for a completely different role?

I would like to apply for a role as a administrator - its not really an inspiring role as such. I am also struggling to write my letter explaining my skills as everything seems to come down to that I've not done this type of role for years / why would I want to move back?

I'd put somewhere along the lines of 'in the past I have had jobs including as an administrator and did have a change of career for a few years but have decided to go back into being an administrator as I enjoyed the challenges it bought'

    Looking for progression, new challenges.

It's one of those questions that provided you don't answer something negative 'I hate my boss', 'not paid enough' etc the answer will be forgotten.

I've always written that I'm looking for a new challenge, etc.

Corrected this for you. If you're going to apply for a position of administrator OP, you will need a good eye for detail.
