Hi,
Sorry if I sound a bit daft with what I am about to post but this is my first time in a mse forum.
About 12 years ago I got myself into a lot of debt by basically being stupid and living way beyond my means.About 9 years ago I decided to take control after realising that I had nearly 15k of debt and could no longer ignore it.So I worked 7 days a week sold my possessions and didn't buy myself a thing! All was going well and I had got my debt down to about 6k and then fell pregnant and had to live off maternity pay! Still I kept going and now I am down to less than 3k!
To be frank I am sick to death of paying debts and I have had a year of burying my head in the sand! Not the brightest idea I know but between moving, me and my husband being made redundant and then my pay and hrs dropping I couldn't have continued to pay them any money as I am barely surviving! I know I need to do something but don't know how I can with no spare income!
Help please:mad:

Are you saying that your debt is down to 3k? If so that's brilliant. Last little bit to go.
Are you saying you haven't paid anything towards it for a year or you've been making the minimum payments? I'm a little confused to be honest.
Also are you working or are you on maternity leave?
if you can clarify a little I'm sure people on here will have some suggestions.
Best of Luck

Sorry I knew I would go wrong somewhere!oops!
I have roughly 2700 left. I stopped paying when I was on maternity leave but started again when I went back to work. I have had to reduce my hours to fit in with my son's schooling which has meant a drop in wages too. I haven't paid anything for a yr!0 -
Hi all!
I registered on here in January and did one post then life got in the way and I haven't managed to get back on since! I have been doing loads of overtime whenever I can as I am determined to shift this debt!I am now down to £1810.66 and our mortgage is up to date.No sign of us booking a holiday or getting the new sofa we desperately need but I am determined not to stick it on credit so for now a throw will do!
Anyway I will keep going and checking on here for inspirational stories!
Thanks xx0 -
Hi butterfly
You sound very determined and thanks for the update - it's always good to hear people making positive progress. Sounds like maybe you should have a debt-free date in your signature - it can be very motivational for some folk on here...
Regards
Dennis

hi Butterfly,
well done so far
have a look at your local freecycle site for a sofa, you may get a good one for nothing.
or search on ebay using the "within nearest distance" option.
the holiday will be much more enjoyable once you don't have this hanging over your head
good luckLIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0
