Winner not picked

Hi all, just wanted to pick our brains on this one. I entered a competition back end of last ear on FB that had few entries to win an Ipad mini. The end date passed and they still haven't picked a winner. I messaged them about a month ago and they said good point and said the person was off (probably for xmas) However they still haven't picked a winner and are not responding to any messages. Do they have to pick a winner and can they be reported for not doing so.?
 Cheers to all for posting

I would assume its a fake comp. there's loads of pages on fb running fake comps, I've been blocked from posting on certain pages for asking for winners lists which just screams that they are fake. I've lost count of the amount of pages that I've reported and unliked!2012 wins x7 = £250 2013 wins x6 = £240
2014 Jan-Necklace by sandwich, Lola by Perse manicure set, big canvas picture, Simpsons onesie
Feb-£30 m&s voucher, slendertone ab belt, bodywarmer.
March-lipgloss
Looks like 2014 shaping up to be a good year! :j0 -
What page was it ? The thing is with a lot of these comps they could say they have picked and notified a winner and no one would be any the wiser if they have or haven't , it is actually against Facebook rules for them to name winners on the page so they could just say that if they were questioned about it.0

We should have a list somewhere for fake Facebook pages so we can all unlike them. Unless there is one already?
I must admit it is hard to 'believe' companies when they say things like ' the winner has been chosen - please check your messages' or 'we have pm'd the winner'. They could also just post a made up name too! And how do we know if they are telling the truth?:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -

There are various FB groups that post up what are believed to be fake pages as they are found but I don't think they list them (the pages usually get pulled after enough reports are made).
Any site (not just FB ones) can make up a winners list if they want to - J Public doesn't really knows if G Phillips from Suffolk etc exists or not.0 -
