Welcome car finance
Options
Being in the market for a new car,was looking around the sites and saw that welcome do car finance for 19.9% as opposed to their hideous 60% personal loans, does anyone know if this is for cars they supply or can you go to any garage that has a credit license, according to there website it's any garage with a credit license, but seeing the flak they get on here would like confirmation of this.
I've already been knocked back by Black Horse so options are getting limited.
Only after about £1200-1500 as have about £1000 myself so any feedback much appreciated.

The Welcome 19% is an invitation offer, it doeos depend on your circumstances at what rate you get, bear in mind that they are owned by provident and are also YES car credit. If you go specifically for car loan it will be one of theirs. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

They also don't put any prices on any of there cars, they just tell you how much it will cost you a month. I looked at a 2005 Ford Ka with them and they quoted me £230/month (cause that's what my maximum budget) and that was over 48 payments - that works out at £11 040
I ended up going to an independant garage and saying that if they wanted my custom they needed to find me credit (I have atrocious credit hence why I tried Welcome Car Finanace) they came back and said that I could have a 3k car and pay £140/48 payments (£6270) - I refused, stood up to walk out and 2 minutes number crunching later I was offered £130/36 payments (£4680) - it's not the best but I was proud that I was cheeky enough to make them work for my custom .instead of me being greatful that they actually offered me something at all/0 -
Hi Wafoo
This is probably not in the spirit of the 'loans' board but if you post on the motoring board they'll help you to pick a decent car for the £1000 that you already have.
For someone who has got their debts down from 30k to almost nothing, you seem very keen to get back into expensive credit again!
And as for Welcome/Provident/Yes car Credit ... best avoid the lot of them IMHO.0 -
True, but the old banger I'm plodding around in now is about to bite the dust so need something a bit more reliable as I'm doing serious mileage at the moment with work, figured £2500ish should get me a decent car with a fair bit of life left, thanks for the welcome info, will aviod them like the plague!Total debt 2003 £29658

my advice for this would be to try to find an older but low mileage well maintained car. Buy privately instead of from a garage/dealer. And make sure it's someone genuinely getting rid of a car for a good reason not someone selling a car they bought at auction that they don't know the history of and pretending they bought the car for their daughter who decided she didn't want it!
No car is 100% reliable and I know people who've ended up spending lots of money on newer cars. I am currently driving a 9 year old fiesta that never gives me any problems!Indecision is the key to flexibility0
