  • Think about WHY they have banned ties. I suspect it's because they drop into drinks, or something like that, when people are working. Think about to what extent this is relevant to the interview you are attending.

(If it were me, I would ring CS and say I was disappointed in the presentation of their cabin staff, and ask why they have banned ties. But that's just me.....)
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

They may not wear ties when they are up in the air but that is absolutely no reason not to wear one to an interview.

If you have to role play you may get asked to take it off I suppose.

As for the untucked shirt and no socks, I am with sniggings on this one, hideous and chavvy looking.
  • I'm amused that you think that's what you perceive as 'chavvy' when all the high fashion designer brands like Hermes are styling the modern man like this, have you not noticed all the male celebs catching onto it? Google 'Johannes Huebl' and become educated by one of the stylish men ever. Your comment made me chuckle :rotfl:

I don't think it is so modern, goes right back to Miami Vice :D

It may be what some consider stylish but it is more club/evening wear perhaps than interview attire. Certainly, regardless of role I would wear shirt tucked in, socks and a tie unless told otherwise (if I was male!)

I think as cabin crew, it's a very frontline, service based job. If I was the employer i'd be looking for brilliant communication skills and confidence. So as long as it's semi smart to be honest I think you can get away with anything.

I've been a retail manager for 3 years now, If I personally was going for a cabin crew job I'd go for something I already had (here's to me guessing this person is male since we're talking about ties? - apologies if not), crisp white fitted shirt (something every man should have) untucked, black slim trousers, patent black shoes no socks, a cool fitted blazer, done. Simple, stylish, modern. Stand out in a good way

For an attractive guy under 30 going out for the evening to a nightclub, I like the sound of the outfit.

For a job interview, unless it's for something in arts/theatre or similar then a man should ALWAYS wear a suit and tie. Black shoes. Socks are not optional except at the beach. Especially for customer facing roles the hair should be neat, face clean shaven, nails short and clean and particular attention paid to personal hygiene. Piercings should be removed and tattoos covered.

Are you sure your friend has an interview? If they do, they need to know a hell of a lot about the company and its background and while a good start is the easyjet website, they might also read up on, "smart casual" the easyjet office norm.

It'll probably be a bit like a 'big brother' audition.
Games, roleplays, team building stuff, etc....
  • :rotfl: I am not sure where this whole 'banned ties' rumour has come from. Male easyJet cabin crew wear ties in the air depending on the colour of the shirt they are wearing. For example, if they are wearing the orange shirt, the uniform policy states that the tie is not to be worn and the shirt should be open collar, but if they are wearing the white shirt, the tie is compulsory.

Cabin Crew wear a smart uniform in all airlines; looking smart and perfect for the role should be your friends number one priority. Image will be the first thing they look at.
  • Not every easyJet job is for cabin crew. There are lots of office jobs. I am faced with a similar question so I'm dressing to the nines for the day. Always dress down during the day. Can't do that if you've not bothered to bring a tie or (snigger) socks
