Worried about new job

I'm currently working my notice after handing it in a few days ago. I've found that the company I'm going to work for is in serious financial trouble and I've been worried ever since!
Not sure what to do! Loads of sleepless night too! The money and job is better than my current role but if there is no company in 6/12 months then that makes no difference.
Anyone been in this situation or have any advice?

Will your old company let you withdraw your notice? If not you don't really have a choice, if they do then you need to decide whether to risk it.
Personally, I would be very wary of someone retracting their notice because it was given in the first place because they wanted to leave so whats going to change in a couple of months?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
how bad can it be if they are taking on more staff and good pay?
as above, unless you can withdraw the notice, and you want to do that, then I would just risk it and take the new job, at least if it closes you don't have to make up some daft excuse why you left, then just look for a new job.0 -
Job hunt behind the scenes! I'm in an unsure job but found it is like buses out there, I mean I even deleted my CV from the CV sites thinking 'this is the one' and it seems to have grown a life of it's own! this is all alongside another job offer I had so glad I didn't say no thanks so quickly - so yeah I padded myself out well as I thought it maybe the case, least you've got a heads up
Though the naughty in me and trying to see the funny side says this would be the most ideal time to take out income protection insurance... got to laugh, far better then to cry and worry about what you can't control0 -
Would you be able to have a frank discussion with the person who will be your line manager at your new job? It sounds as though the company might be trying to turn itself around by bringing on new staff.
Also, where did you find out about the financial trouble? Depending on the source, this information might be best taken with a pinch of salt. I think many companies are not as financially sound at the moment as they might have been a few years ago.0 -
They are under a CVA at the moment. Made losses the last 5 year's and are due to make a loss this year too. I know this as the position is in finance and its to replace someone. The owner think they can get through it but I think there is zero chance. I wasnt told the extent of it until my handover day.0

I was in a situation similar once, I worked as an assistant manager for a womenswear company and my manager was going on maternity but everyone knew she wasn't coming back as she hated the place. I was pretty much straight away asked to take over her position, that same day I was approached by a friend who worked as a manager for a different womenswear company which I had previously worked for, she was leaving and completely bugged me to go for an interview for her position. Turns out they were waiting for me to go for the interview and a few days later I was offered that job too.
I had a decision, go with the company who I was already with and had offered me more money
OR
Go with the other company who headhunted me but offered less money
I knew the company I was already with was struggling a little but this other company was doing quite well. Eventually I chose the lower pay because I believed in their ideals more and saw they were doing well.
5 months into my role the company I was previously in pulled out of every UK store they had and made everyone redundant. And 3 years later I'm still with the company I chose, they're now becoming a leading retailer and have given me 3 pay rises since (4th to come soon!).
I guess what I'm trying to say is, it's not always about money. There's always chance to withdraw your resignation? Hope you come to a happy decision!0
