Barclays Loan

Please could I have some advice? 6 years ago me and my partner got into debt (about 10K) and when we moved house we decided to do a runner. Quickly we were found by everyone we owed money to and I got so fed up with letters and phonecalls I decided to write to the companies and agreed to payment plans. I have now nearly paid off everything.
We had a letter about 4 years ago from Wescot about our Barclays bank debt. We had an overdraft and a loan and were told we owed 1.7k which Ive nearly paid for. When we had the letter we did think it should have been a lot more but thought nothing of it and stuck to our payment plan with Wescot.
I wasnt sure if I owed BT any money from when we ran away so I ordered my credit reports and it seems we don't owe anything to them. On the credit report it showed our Barclays bank loan which hasnt been paid for and it seems we owe 3K for that and the Wescot/Barclays debt for 1.7k that we have been paying for is actually for the overdraft (which is nearly paid £500 to go).
I haven't had any letters from Barclays regarding the loan so I'm not sure what to do and was wondering where should I turn really? Its been 3/4 years since Ive had contact with them and not so long ago Wescot sent a letter out in error saying the overdraft had been passed back to Barclays and when I rang Barclays to discuss it they searched my name and previous address to try and find out about it but they never even mentioned the loan.
I just want to turn myself in and agree to a payment plan for the loan but I'm worried about the consequences and am wondering if anyone knows a reason why they haven't got in contact about it during the last 3/4 years and how do I go about fessing up?

Hi
I'm no expert, but I suspect if you able to ignore it until 6 years since you made a payment or acknowledged the debt then it might be statute barred and therefore difficult to enforce.
If you wanted to pay, but no one wanted to acknowledge the debt to you then that is a problem, because if you have made enquiries into the debt the timer for the 6 years starts right back to 6 again. Of course if you intend to pay that is not so much a problem, and credit to you for being honest.
I can only imagine that the debt may have gone to a DcA who for some reason haven't caught up with you yet, but surely Barclays would still have you on file?
All very strange, and I hope you sort it out, otherwise your credit rating will be up the swanny for even longer.
More advice required, sure someone will be along soonDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.
