Hi I was discharged from bankruptcy in October, just a few questions!!
I had loans and mortgage years ago which were all cleared etc and not involved in my bankruptcy can I reclaim ppi on these?
Also I got a copy of my credit file ready to do a clean up and some of the default dates are showing as 2009 so will these disappear after 6 years from 2009 or from the date my bankruptcy discharged 2013 obviously if its an error I don't want to write to the companies informing them
Hope you understand lol
Thanks

Hi, unfortunately you can't claim ppi even on credit cards/ loans that were paid off before your bankruptcy, any asset that existed before your bankruptcy does not belong to you anymore.
About the defaults, they will drop off your file 6 years from when they were registered. If your defaults are not recorded as being settled/ partially settled you can write to the creditor and request they update them. It doesn't really matter as they will still drop off in 2015 anyway but might be better to get it sorted just to make sure they never sell it on!

Missold PPI would be a cause of action an potential asset in your bankruptcy that only the OR has a right to claim. You have no right to it any more, so can't.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
