Hi All,
We got engaged at Christmas and are getting married in October this year. I'm trying to put together a budget and have an idea for most things but have no idea when it comes to photographers! I have seen one photographer whose work I love but he only offers one wedding package at £1100! I know you pay for what you get but is this average for a wedding photographer? Or how much should I be expecting to pay? We are in West Yorkshire.
Thanks in advance!

Ours normally charges £995 but we're getting it for free as he's a friend. Another option I've seen done is a few disposable cameras on each table. Couple this with many smartphone apps that allow people to take photos and upload them to your account, and you'll have a very cheap set of photos, with a very unique perspective that a normal photographer wouldn't get. However, most of these photos will be beyond awful and unusable. You might not get any at all. It's a risk
.
Hope this helps.

Ours has many different packages but I think we are paying £600 for a digital only package that covers most of the day. (Speeches and first dance aren't included) Another option would be contacting your local college and seeing if there are any photography students? Some have got such a good eye and are really eager to please! We are in Lincolnshire and price will obviously vary depending upon location.Due to get married in 2014. :grinheart
Saving for a dream honeymoon!

What are you getting for £1,100.
We are in lancashire, also getting married in October (4th), whilst we have yet booked a photographer the ones we have looked at have all been around £1,000.
Not sure if that helps!0 -
Our package is £700, digital only for 2 photographers from bridal preps to sitting down for wedding breakfast. £900 for until first dance if we can afford it...
Expensive (especially when our whole wedding budget is less than £5k), but good quality award winning work!GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

Photos were fantastic and I love them too pieces. We were quite luckyFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
Wow faith, that sounds like a brilliant deal.
We paid £415 for two photographers, disc only and owning the copyright. This was bridal prep to speeches - about five hours in all.
They were at the lower end of our quotes, which ranged from around £350 to £1,500.
It really does depend what you get with the package - and if you get on with the photographers, like their work etc.
I'm chuffed with our pics, we wanted natural pictures with a few formal shots, and they are lovely.0 -

Where are you based?! I can't believe how much the prices vary!0 -
Thanks everyone! It sounds like £1000 is about average for all day coverage with an album. The package I saw for £1100 didn't include an album so seems expensive now! We only really need a digital package as i'd like to put together the album myself, so I think we're probably looking at £600-£800 from what you've all said! We're off to a wedding fair on Feb 2nd so at least I can go with that figure in mind and see if I can get a good deal0
