Alopecia - before and after wig

For those with Alopecia - especially Androgenetic - how did your mood change from before to after using a wig?
And, once you have your wig, start using it - how do you cope with being confronted with what your own hair looks like, when you take the wig off??
Before you get to the stage of wearing your wig, do you reach a stage where you are scared to do anything with, because of how it may look afterwards??
Interested to here peoples experiences.

Why wear a wig when you can treat alopecia?

Been taking Propecia for a few years now (gp prescribes it) and have a full head of hair without any side effects. Costs a bloody fortune though

I can't give you any personal advice, because although I've suffered with thinning hair and realise the damaging effect that has on my mental health, it's never been bad enough to require a wig.
The girl who runs this site: https://www.alopeciabeautytips.com, Aimee, is lovely, I worked at the same company a few years ago and she's been working hard to raise awareness. There's a contact link at the bottom of that page, maybe she'd be able to give some advice?Debt Free and Very Very Proud! - DMP mutual support member 315
