Winter Smiles (£10 Day Returns) on South West Trains Network

Old thread, but it's worth pointing out that they've extended this offer to 16 March. I'm guessing because it coincided with some of the worst weather in living memory, and some of the lines were totalled.
It's handy for me because I live in the south-west, and a return to London is otherwise £37! £10 is a steal (they had a similar offer last Summer).
By my calculations it's actually cheaper for two adults to travel from London to Andover in order to watch The LEGO Movie than it would be for them to see it at one of the cinemas in central London (£22 versus £31.40*) and you're less likely to have hordes of kids clambering over you.
* Andover's Odeon has a £6-per-adult deal, equals twelve pounds plus ten pounds, versus £15.70 times two at Cineworld on Shaftesbury Avenue, in both cases for the 3D version of the film; even without the £6 deal it's still cheaper.
EDIT: Erm. My maths are rubbish - two £6 cinema tickets plus two £10 fares equals £32. So in fact it's sixty pence cheaper to stay and watch the film in London. And you don't have to sit on a train for eighty minutes.0 -
If you are watching the Lego film I imagine there will be children wherever you are!AshleyPomeroy wrote: »you're less likely to have hordes of kids clambering over you.

Plus the Asda underneath the cinema is very useful for grabbing some snacks to take in with you

Some train tickets on the SouthWest lines can be bought cheaply any time from http://uk.megabus.com/default.aspx It varies as to times and prices but I usually get from London to Portsmouth and back for £2 when I book early.0
