Hi everyone. I am due to attend an assessment day in February for Thomas Cook overseas rep. I have to do a 2 minute presentation. Does anyone have any tips or further info on what is expected during the day. I am so nervous!!

Thanks for your help

If you have to do a presentation - on anything - film yourself on the first go.

It's scary how you much you move, fidget and fiddle when you don't realise you're doing it. It really detracts from what you're trying to say.

Whatever your presentation is on (I presume it's about a holiday resort?) research, write it up, practice, practice, practice. Film yourself to get an idea of your body language, tone of voice, how long you're speaking for. Try to get a friend who won't crack up laughing to give you their opinion. Practice some more. Become word perfect so if you drop your notes it won't matter.

Over all - RELAX. You must have shown something in your application to get to the assessment day. Good Luck!

Play it as if you have the job as a holiday rep:

Hard sell the holidaymakers/interview panel overpriced excursions and when they say "no thanks" don't see them for the rest of their holiday.

But 2 minutes? Really? WHat can you actually do in that time? Introduce yourself, tell them a little about yourself, tell them why you want to work for them (try to say why you will fit into their company by researching them on the net) and ask if they have any questions - 2 minutes gone!

I have friends who are reps for Thomas Cook and Thomson. In addition to the above comments:

2 minutes is no time at all to impart any real knowledge - don't try to cram stuff in.

They are testing you, not your knowledge. Reps are "larger than life". They have about 30 minutes in resort at a welcome meeting to make you trust them, feel like they are your new best friend, and sell you extras that typically have a 50 - 60% markup that goes directly to their employers for doing nothing! They are looking at the person you project to others.

NB to everyone else who is just a holiday maker - these companies rip off the local economy. You can buy the same trip directly in resort from the local companies directly at half the price. These days you can even book most of them by internet before you even travel - or get all the details and go check them out if you want. Save yourself some money or spend the same amount and do twice as much! And make sure that the money you spend goes directly into the hands of local people (who run all the trips anyway - whoever you buy them from) instead of into multinational companies who do nothing for you.

    Hi Everyone

Thanks to you all for the replies. Would have thanked each poster but couldn't remember how to do it!

The presentation is to sell my dream destination along with an excursion - 2 mins is not long.

marybelle01 - I will try and sell myself as well as the trip.

Will just be practice, practice from now on.

    Thanks all once again.
