Tesco delivery - budgetting ideas?

Options
Hi, not been around for a while, but looking for some ideas...

I have paid for the Tesco Delivery midweek saver til May, and budgetting £40-50 a week, wanting to get all groceries in that.

Some stuff I buy elsewhere, eg. refined coconut oil on amazon/ebay, but all meat, fruit etc. from Tesco.

There are four of us - two adults, one picky, and two small children, both picky.

What would you buy?
If you could feed the family for much less, what else would you get in the delivery to make it up to £40 (minimum spend)

    I buy these.........
    Whole chickens
Mince and sausage meat Ive recently mixed together to stretch food and nobody has noticed as well as the lentils lol
    Value rice
    Value pasta
    Value tom pur!e and passata

But I do buy my monthly5kg chicken breasts from makro at £19.99 or the Asian supermarket.

I'd menu plan and freeze leftovers then use the. Leftovers the next week.

This is what I do with us lot at we are a family of four but it's t if they he husband that's picky! My tip don't tell them it's another brand if they are funny. I put value shreddies in the branded box for 5 months and nobody batted an eyelid!

I'd buy what I liked to eat and the children get what they are given and eat it or starve and the manthing does too.. if he wants something specific he cooks it himself or we all have it.. or if we all hate it I will make allowances to a small degree.. eg.. if he wants lamb, which is gross I'll do a tiny bit for him and the rest of us will have something nice.. I would NOT cater for individuals so.. shopping is along the lines of HUGE bag of pasta and a sack of potatoes. Frozen veg is sometimes cheaper than fresh and lasts longer so if you have freezer space go with it. There is also less waste as you can just cook 2 sprouts for example rather than buying a bag full cooking 2 and binning the rest.

Ignore best before dates.. use your senses to check if stuff is not good to eat.

Reduced stuff is wonderful and worth going instore to browse through! You lose this option buying online.. it is the 1 thing I miss, a good rifle through the yellow sticker mountain.

use my supermarket, it gives you ideas of swaps to sae money, offers cashback on some items and includes all the special offers.

coupon hunt online.. its amazing what you find!

buy the cheapest brand possible and go up in price if you do not like the cheapest option until you find the cheapest you do like.

value loo roll is (excuse pun) crap.. get the next cheapest.
smaller packs of mince can be bulked out with a handful of lentils and grated veg.. be creative.. and sneaky!

Children are only fussy eaters if you allow it, unless in cases where some additional needs come in.. they eat whatever you eat but they need to see you eat it first before they can comprehend it is not poisonous.. if they see you letting dad be a child about food they will be too. I simply don't eat around my younger more impressionable children. I have a rather limited diet and eat very little and I do not want them to be the same. As a result my 2 y/o was eating black olives and saveloys this morning!!!

I decant all cereal into lock'n'lock containers.. it gets eaten. I get the cheapest in most cases though some are gross.

Jars and some stuff I get from approved foods.. it is MUCH cheaper and well worth the delivery costs. I do a large order every 2-3 months

I would buy the 3 for a tenner meat deals and make those last the week
    plus

    large bag potatoes
    pasta
    rice
    frozen veg
    tinned tomatoes
    baked beans
    bread/bread flour

That would form the basis of our meals. If I was able to do it for less (and I can for 3 of us) then I would buy things that would keep.

So, pasta, rice, tins of everything, long life products like fruit juice... toilet paper! Basically any stuff that you usually buy that keeps. You could also get some nice drinks to keep for summer :)
