When is a daily not a daily?

Options
Interested on some thoughts on this. Has what constitutes as a daily/weekly/monthly etc competition ever been defined?

Having just entered this competition https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4863635 which is marked as being daily. I looked at the terms and conditions to see that there will be a different prize and (I assume) different question each day.

Is it then really a daily or a series of competitions that last one day?

If the latter then should each competition be posted in a new thread each day?

If you comp by end date will you miss entering the competitions on the first 10 days because you are entering on the end date?

I guess in my mind a daily competition would be where there is one prize to give away but a method of entry available for each day of the competition period (ie the MAG dailies or rafflecopter). Replace daily with weekly/monthly/yearly as required but the same principle - one prize but multiple entries so one thread.

If then there is a competition period/event (like the one above, or more recently the advents) that lasts for several days/weeks/months but has a different prize each day/week/month with defined closing dates then each 'competition' should be listed separately - multiple prizes but one entry so multiple threads.

    Short answer? Yes

    Long answer? Yes

Unless the OP actually puts that it is a daily in the title, any end daters will miss all but the last day or two. I speak from experience :o

If the contest is being marketed by the competition organizers as a daily, or is all on one website (Quizonaut, etc) then I consider it a daily, even if the prizes change.

Daily comps are comps that you enter daily - the number and frequency of prizes does not matter. Comps where a large number of multiple entries are allowed are treated as dailies (eg. some Nisa and most Celebrity Angels comps) as you may want to enter these each day to build up your entries.

There are 5 threads (all stickies in Regular Competitions) that end date compers should review each day for new competitions and they shouldn't miss out if they do this.

    1) "Normal" dailies
    2) "Magazine" dailies
    3) "Rafflecopter" dailies
    4) Once Only Enter Early
    5) Weeklies

All daily comps should have a link posted in one of the first four of these. If the original poster doesn't do this someone else usually does so soon after.

If daily comps were posted in a new thread each and every day then the main board would be swamped as comps like watches2U would need to be posted every day.

Monthly comps should all be posted individually and weekly comps can be posted in either way.
