can anyone give me some advice please , I have been ill for years but have tried to keep working part time , my illness has worsened , I am about to make a claim for disability , I have no savings , I owe the bank £700 , what on earth can I do , please help .

Is this your bank account you owe £700 on? or a card or loan account?

It will probably be a good idea to get a new bank account with a different bank to use going forward, so that you know your benefit income is safe for priority items.

Then I would write to the bank and explain your situation and that you are only going to be able to afford token payments towards the debt (perhaps £5 a month?) and ask them to consider freezing interest & charges on the debt.

It is my bank , I owe £700 on an overdraft , it is costing me £30 a month , I paid it and had to miss my rent because they charged me £5 a day for unauthorised overdraft
