Hi there
I am a complete (and naive!) newbie!
I have completed the Step Change debt remedy tool and they are sending out the Dmp application pack. I have 2 questions, are 'applicants' always accepted and is the amount that they give you that they suggest you could pay to creditors what you actually end up paying each month?
Sorry if these are silly questions and/or have been asked a million times

Hi
Assuming you meet their criteria then yes I believe applicants are always accepted.
Once you have finalised a budget with them then that is what you would pay (until your next review/you have a change in financial circumstances)A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Hi lolsy,
Well done in taking the first step!
Providing you can afford to pay each creditor at least £5 a month, you will be accepted on to a DMP. StepChange won't turn anyone away who are in need of help!
As for your deposit amount, every penny that you give to SC will go towards paying your debts off"No sacrifice, no victory"

Welcome to the forum! You've taken a great first step and as others have pointed out stepchange is a great organisation run by really lovely staff.
Another thing that can help you is to post a statement of affairs (SOA) here (there is a link in the last sticky of this part of the forum) and some people will go through it to see where you can cut down on spending.
Good luck with your new journey.Debt as of March 2018, £794 rent arrears £4273.7 debt, £900.70 in pay day loans, total £5968.40 . Total debt today £5968.40
