How do Eon deal with you once you go BR?

Im going to go BR soon and owe Eon around £200 on a credit meter.
I read through previous Eon threads here and and Eon representative recommended requesting a prepayment meter before BR and then going bankrupt to avoid the £50 fitting fee on the new account thats setup after BR.
But, I phoned Eon (without mentioning the upcoming bankruptcy) and they told me that they dont charge for you to change from a credit meter to a prepayment meter provided a warrant is not required to get it fitted.
Maybe their policy has changed. I dunno.
I would prefer not to have a prepayment meter after BR. I will be able to keep up to date with my electric bill as I will no longer have to pay many of my creditors after BR.
Is Eons policy still to force the fitting of a prepayment meter to all bankrupts and charge for the fitting of it?

I'm with British Gas on a credit meter and had a large winter fuel bill at the time I went BR. They simply sent me a letter saying the OR had informed them of my BR and that they had closed the old account and opened a new account from the date of BR. I then moved house a few weeks later and they had no issue with that either. No-one ever mentioned a pre-payment meter. Pre-pays can work out very expensive but do make budgeting easier I guess.
If you switch supplier you can have a pre payment meter for free - they usually charge to remove them rather than install them.0 -

I was an Eon customer when I went bankrupt and I owed them money. I called them after I declared and they were very reasonable to me. They closed my old account down and opened a new one, they still let me keep the credit account which was very good of them!

Thanks all.
I was hoping that Eon will be reasonable as I paid off over £400 of arrears with them over a year ago. I haven't abused the credit meter either and my usage has gone down to a minimum without going cold (even though I could of turned the heating on full bull recently because it will be written off in the BR anyway).
Hopefully they'll do it on a case by case basis and be reasonable.

I'm with Southern Electric and they simply closed my account and opened a new one, we requested a PP metre though - they did not force us to.0

Morning,
I went bankrupt in March 13, owing E-on rather large amount as they hadnt sent me a bill in 2 years. Unfortunatly they got a warrant to put a pre-payment meter in before I went bankrupt for my gas meter I still had a credit meter for my electric. Once bankrupt I called them staright away as I was paying £8.50 a week off my debts and i needed this to stop. I found them very helpful, polite and symapthetic. They closed my accounts started my new account up and I kept the credit meter for my electric.
To be honest I have had the gas prepayment meter over a year now, its not too bad. its like everything else its just a case of getting into a routine with it. My only gripe with it is you have to go to a shop to top it up its such a shame in this day and age you cant top it up online as I would find a standing order to top it up each month or week so much easier.
Good luck with everything

I'm sorry you've found yourself in this situation.
You're right the policy has changed, if you would like pre-payment meters we'll fit these for free for you.
As others have said, just contact us and we'll be able to open the new accounts once you've declared and sort if it out from there.
