I don't believe it - in a Victor Meldrew voice

Just rang the Fire Brigade about a smoke alarm they fitted that has a 10 year battery in it. Fitted 5 years ago but peeping all the time so struggled to get it down to change battery.
Can't change because a sealed unit, apparently people were removing the batteries to use for other things
Fire Brigade now charge £10 to send a replacement in the post to fit yourself or £20 to come and fit it for you :(
They wont cover the 10 year guarantee because I didn't pay for the original one.
No concessions for anyone. Told them I would get my own.

It's not a problem for me but wonder how many extra unnecessary deaths this will cause especially the elderly and vulnerable.

:rotfl: sorry if I offended you. It was a rare occasional haunt for me when I used to drive back from Wales to Pinewood every day (well mainly because I couldn't be bothered to drive a little further to Hayes).

Glad you got a little outing Tiny and an elite meet in the caf! I bet thats cheered you up no end;) anda few bagains to boot. Did you use a trolly to lean on like a zimmer frame:rotfl::rotfl:thats what Lala used to do when she had her knee operation a couple of years ago.

It was a lovely outing thanks Nanny. We were all looking for different bits and helped each other find them. :)

Dodo wanted the £3 sparkly throw, which I found last one for her. :D

TH was looking for little bits for her LO, so we were all scanning clip strip stuff. But TH is such an expert at finding the bargains now, she already had a basket full when we got there, I have trained her well. ;)

And the girls found me a lovely ceramic 2 handled red robin cup with My first Christmas on for Teeny. Only £1.25 :T

    Purpledonkey that's pants.
Mind you they could have interviewed you when the job was already taken and then said no, don't know which is worse.
I think I would prefer not to be interviewed in those circumstances, but would be very annoyed :(

Thanks and agreed. That's happened to me before! Just irritated at the moment, I'm sure I'll find something eventually just bored of the hunt :)
