Quick question about a PCO badge.

Hey all,
My uncle has recent fell into to rough times and is now living with me, and signing on.
He's doing the usual job searching and I spoke to a friend who can get him a job at a mini-cab office as a driver (He's lived and drove all around London for at least 25 years) so he'd be well suited for the job, plus he never shuts up talking to he'd be known as sociable.
But, he's been left with pretty much nothing, not even his car, I won't bore you with the details but Spain is a pretty rough place by the sounds of it.
He can't rent a normal car as it needs to have a PCO, he can't PCO a car to get finance on as he doesn't have the money, and he can't rent a PCO car without a licence, to which leads us to my question.
Would the job center maybe help with the paying of his PCO badge? He's in decent health and everything, has had a UK driving licence for over 25 years too, he spoke to someone from the PCO and they sent him some paperwork to present the DWP/JSA place but he didn't actually say it was a sure thing.
Personally I think they would, but it would be nice to get some insight to it all, last time I heard from a mate they also done SIA badges, and they're around the same price, maybe?
Anyway, sorry for the long thread, if you've read this far you're entitled to take a cigarette/tea break, I would.

he can apply for a budgeting loan, it's around £360 and normally paid back at a rate of £8 a week, no interest.

How much is the licence?0 -
Is the £360 the maximum? It's £250 for the badge, £57 for some Enhanced CBC and between £50 to £160 for the medical, I've just read out what you posted @sniggings and he's over the moon, apparently his adviser never told him about that, but to be fair, I didn't know either.
Thank's by the way.0 -

I think it is, all of it changed in April just gone, I think you could get more, but the Tories have now cut a lot of it out, and past it on to your local council to provide the help they have stopped, so it might be worth checking what your council have put in place.
BTW the form is 12 pages long but you only have to answr a handful of questions on it, very easy to fill out, if you don't have a printer, your local jobcentre will give you the forms, and you hand it back into them, takes around 2-3 weeks total.
A tip, always ask for more than you want, incase they cut it down
oh and it doesn't surprise me the jobcentre weren't much help
oh wait, I forgot to mention he has to have been claiming JSA or another income based benefit for 26 weeks?0
