Working on a project about debt - would value opinions

I hope this is ok to ask, I'd love insight from people who matter, I've tried asking myself but think maybe I'm to close and biased, in fact I wished I'd asked before as my mates are suitably un-impressed it would seem, whilst I've been in debt I remember getting a call once from a private co who did gain my trust but it was quite long ago and maybe I did get my head out of sand as a result I wish I had taken more notice with how the format went and in the end after I did go it alone it was a private co who was the one to help me but it was me going to them when it was to late :((so while I understand the options and working to rules I perhaps see the struggle with the perception of putting it to someone)
The scenario;
If you have been in debt, how would you feel about someone phoning possibly out of the blue to help you setup the likes of a debt management plan? worst case talk of an IVA right down to learn how to manage finances better
- If that call asked if you had pre-received any info surrounding your options?
or, if asked if you have seen the help campaign ad on TV perhaps? like the MAR one that was on the telly this christmas quite a bit and still running by the money advice service
Thanks for any input, it would really be valued more then you'll ever know, I would just like to gain an insight nothing more and so I've tried to limit to the crux of it x
Even if you want to be less polite like other opinions received so far then I shall understand that to. I appreciate this can be a sore subject so Thank You :A

No way would I discuss anything like this on the phone, I'd worry that it was a fraud! You'd never gain my trust cold calling.DFD - 26th March 2014 :j0

If someone phones out of nowhere to ask questions the phone would go back down fast. The word CONFIDENTIAL is a favorite.
Sometimes I get cold calls and the outcome is they are in it for profit for themselves and could not give a toss about you.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0
