Hello!
I am completely new to all this and still trying to get my head around it all, so thinking a diary would help
My DDs are all at nursery so I have chance to sit and get organised before going back to work next week *eeeep*
So current situation:
Barclaycard (me): £144.71 currently making minimum payments
Lloyds mastercard (DH): £1,254.23 standing order for £40 a month
Self employed tax return (DH) £200 clearing tonight!
DVLA (DH) £86 clearing tonight!
Housing Benefit overpayment: £276 **in dispute**
We currently rent a house £650, I would dearly love to move closer to my family (30mins away) but renting is unaffordable and buying is a no go with my credit history *shakes fist at 21yr old self*
So my aim is to clear these debts and get some decent savings together in the hopes we will eventually be able to afford a move.
Wish us luck!:D

I have just remembered the £1500 we owe to a friend/employer for our car
at least monthly payments have been set up for that already :A
Have just spent an hour organising our bank and sorting out a bills spreadsheet so I can keep track of everything that needs paying. Nursery fees look to be our biggest expenditure but until tax credits can be reapplied for and i actually get paid we will have to make do _pale_
Trying to explain to DH that it is pointless having money in savings when we have debt but I see his point that we need back up money in case of ermergencies. We now have 3 savings accounts with less that 150 in 2 and nothing (yet) in the last which keeps him happy.
Looking forward to feb and march no council tax to pay!
Now off to navigate the grocery shopping and try not to over spend :jI have found, through painful experience, that the most important step a person can take is always the next one.

So fast forward nearly 2 months and things are slightly different.
We checked our credit report online as it had been 6 months since our last check.4 lo and behold there is a default been added to DH report for an address he has never lived at. When contacting the company they told him it had been passed on. Contacted the new company to be told that they can 'prove' he lived at this address when the agreement was taken out in 2005, well funny thing is the address they are talking about didn't exist in 2005 as it is a new estate built in the last 3 years. He asked for proof, when he phoned back they suddenly agreed the debt wasn't his. Ok, great, except now they are leading a merry song and dance about getting this default removed.
It is driving me mad that I can't call them and give then a piece of my mind but I know it wouldn't help.
In other news though I have returned to work, joy, and we're making a dent in our debts at least :-)I have found, through painful experience, that the most important step a person can take is always the next one.
