sniggings,
I'm trying to figure out a way to help two people.
You have said your piece and I have agreed you are 100% correct.
Forgive me for not engaging in the debate, I have no interest in proving who is the best. I'm just searching for information. No matter what justification I present to you about my terminology you will find something wrong with it, even if it is just the letter 's'. Feel free to have the last word.0 -

I don't care where someone comes from, if they are prepared to put such effort in to finding work then all power to them

There is no YES equivalent on the mainland, although there is talk of such a scheme, goodness knows when/ if it will happen. Currently the closest thing would be an apprenticeship, but demand for those is high.
I am also wondering if they might be better to relocate, either to Edinburgh or Aberdeen. Obviously the cost of accommodation will be considerably higher, so they would need to do their research first.
Is there a Greek community in Glasgow? If so I would encourage them to make contact - both for support and as an aid to finding work - many jobs are found through word of mouth.0 -
Also it is worth them registering for English conversation classes (or an ESOL course), both to improve their employability and to meet new people.0
